CASE STUDIES & PARTNERSHIPS

NEMO'S GARDEN

Underwater farming will be a staple in the very near future that will help humans to preserve the liveability of Planet Earth. It is a subsea hydroponic farming project by Ocean Reef Group, with a unique test site in Noli - Italy. The technology will allow sustainable subsea farming in specific locations that have land and water scarcity as well as the production of highly enriched crops thanks to the particular conditions.

Teksea is supporting Ocean Reef Group in its efforts to find converging technologies and partnerships that will help the project evolve to a replicable and scalable proposition.

Currently with the support of Siemens, the team - full of amazing people and still growing - is working on the production of digital twins for both the "as is” design and the 2.0 design, together with the identification and testing of energy harvest systems and robotic systems that can fit the project in order to minimise the manned component in the underwater greenhouses management.

GLORIA NTCU

Gloria stands for Global Research & Industry Alliance and is an effort of the Taiwanese Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) to promote its clusters of universities and industries, with relevant focus on the semiconductors Industry, having within its members entities such as TSMC, Synopsys and Cadence. Its target is to stay in touch with the global start-ups panorama trends.

Teksea represents and assists the National Chiao Tung University Gloria programme for the Emea market, and has secured collaborations with significant accelerators, incubators and universities in Italy and Europe.

Based in Hsinchu City, one hour south of Taipei, Gloria NCTU focuses on Semiconductors, Probiotics, Satellites and several consumer technologies hoping to build industry-university-research platforms to provide industries with talents and scientific research services in the most advanced technology fields.

AMT & EUROPEAN SPACE STATION

AMT - Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti is the public transportation provider in Genova, Italy, managing about 700 busses, a metro line, an isolated train line that caters to the inland mountains and other different vertical mobility systems.

Since year 2017 Teksea has ben supporting AMT in part of its research and development efforts. Among other projects Teksea has been in charge of the CertiPro Project, funded by the European Space Agency and involving a partnership of European companies including players as such as Airbus, Intelligence on Wheel and ITC among others, for the development of a track worker safety system and anti collision system

PORTO ANTICO DI GENOVA S.P.A.

Porto Antico is the central harbour tourist area in the heart of the city of Genova, boasting attractions as the biggest aquarium in Europe and receiving 4 million guests each year.

Teksea supported Porto Antico in the study and instalment of sustainability processes and technologies that could shift attention to the climate emergency and reduce the impact of the area thus involving its residents and visitors. To achieve this, among other initiatives, a process to reduce the single use plastic in the area was studied, that could also be sustainable for the bar and restaurants operators from a financial stand point.

In the restaurants and bars in the area tourists and residents had the option to purchase a water refill of filtered and remineralized water instead of the usual plastic bottle. Stainless steel bottles were procured to be sold at an extremely competitive price for the end user, in a way that price tag would not jeopardise the alternative solution. Prices were studied in a way to maintain the same profit for the bars and restaurants.

Other important technologies like the SeaBin, also carrying didactic value, were installed along the harbour, all this supported by a consistent communication effort that involved National Geographic Photographer Randy Olson's exhibit on global plastic impact and that lately further evolved  with the involvement of the AWorld app, the official United Nations app for the ActNow Campaign on the Sustainable Development Goals.

ENERGIA EUROPA - INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP

Energia Europa is a great example of how technology can support sustainability: a filter that redesigns the electricity waves making them more regular and uniformizing the electrical current stream.

To put it in in numbers, if applied to all energy distribution in the world, this technology would save 500 Millions of tons of CO2 equivalent emissions per year. Let that sink.
